Hello everyone!
As with many ideas, they change, or regress. They evolve, or devolve. They grow, or de...grow. I've always been passionate about expanding my teaching lessons to be more accessible, available and valuable. Which is why I have made new Instagram and Bluesky teaching accounts focusing on the performing arts (acting, writing and mentorship), available now!
This way I can be much more specific and targeted in my approach to social media. I'll be able to give advice via posts, get in contact with potential students as well as feel more freedom without worrying that I am pushing down my actual creative work on the timeline.
So, please give both a follow and I'll follow straight back!
What is the biggest reason to separate your creative and teaching accounts?
Well, I want to follow goth girls on my creative account and the teaching is effecting my timeline. Kidding! I follow them on my casual account, like a normal person.
Two reasons really.
One - I don't feel comfortable messaging people unsolicited about my teaching, which is something I know I should get over. How else am I going to expand the business if I sheepishly hope they'll be intrigued by my postings, insta-story and child drawings of me and my family while a dark, ominous figure looms in the background? With these accounts that are geared towards teaching, and people will follow instantly knowing it is a teaching account and not focused on showing my film work, I will feel more comfortable approaching them.
Two - I feel I can't be supportive towards people on my creative account without it feeling, or coming across, that I have ulterior motives from my teaching. "Really good work!.. Could be better if you did 5 of my lessons". That's how it feels and I don't like it. I LOVE being supportive in this industry, it's already so difficult and so isolating, why not add a candle to the darkness? On my creative account I can be supportive. On my teaching accounts I can advertise my premium acting, writing and mentorship lessons without the two clashing.
I'll obviously still mention them on my creative account for now as it has the larger reach, but as time goes on that will change!
